283-unit apartment complex on former Winchester site in New Haven ready to start leasing

NEW HAVEN — The city has issued a partial certificate of occupancy to the developers of a five-story, 283-unit apartment building on part of the former site of the sprawling Winchester Repeating Arms Co. factory, which at its wartime height employed 15,000-20,000 workers.
The $90 million, mixed-income complex at 315 Winchester Ave. on what previously was an underused parking lot within what is now Science Park, is expected to begin leasing later this month, a representative of the developer said Wednesday.
